Review a Grid and Situations

On the Learn Today page, two cards offer two ways to work on your program, each with its own Start button:

Review a grid

Redraw a grid from memory. Schedules your next review.

  1. Click Review a grid. The queue takes the grids of your program (or of the situation you focused on): due grids first, then grids you have never reviewed, then those whose review is coming up. 10 grids at most per session.
  2. You redraw the grid from memory, then confirm.
  3. You see your drawing next to the expected grid, with your accuracy: that is where you spot hands you forgot or added.
  4. You rate yourself: Failed, Medium or Success.
  5. One more moves on to the next grid, Back to reviews ends the session and takes you back to the Reviews page.

Every rated grid updates its spaced repetition schedule, whether it was due or not, and shows up in your history. Drawing is detailed in Draw Mode.

Situations

Key hands from your grids, at the table. A grid is validated once you have played 80 % of its key hands.

Situations are the warm-up before your session: hands drawn from every grid in your program, shown as they would be at the table. You answer, then you see the range. Key hands are the hands at the edge between two actions of your range (for example between Raise and Fold): the ones where you hesitate most. The key hands you play count toward your schedule (see Your key hands validate your grids).

Settings

The Situations card of Review by theme asks one thing, your duration:

  • Hands: 10, 20, 50 or Unlimited (10 by default)
  • Time: 3 min, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min or Custom (1 to 60 min, with − and +), instead of a hand count

Click Start: the run draws from every grid of your format and table, varying the position and the stack from one hand to the next. For a ready-made routine, start one of your sessions (see Your sessions).

Unlimited or timed

  • Unlimited deals every hand of your program (or your focus) once, each grid's key hands first. Stop whenever you like with Finish: you land on the end screen.
  • Timed (for example 5 min), a small countdown shows at the top. When it reaches zero, you finish the hand on screen, then the end screen says Time's up. Handy on public transport: you know when it ends. Finish stays available.

In the history, these runs show Unlimited or Timed 5 min.

Hands are not drawn purely at random:

  • 9 hands out of 10 are key hands. In each grid, the ones you have not played yet come first.
  • 1 hand out of 10 is not a key hand, so that not every hand is a trap. It does not count toward validation.
  • Grids due for review come first: each due grid takes its turn before the others, without the run focusing on them. Hands stay spread over your whole program.

When the list is short

If your program (or your focus) matches no grid, Start is disabled and the page shows what emptied it. If fewer hands are available than requested, the run plays those that exist and tells you so.

Express session

When you have a program and practised recently (within the last 7 days), an Express session shortcut shows in the Today block of the Strategy page. One tap starts a timed Situations run on the situation you miss most if you focused it, else on your whole program. Change lets you pick 3 min or 5 min; your choice is kept.

Your sessions

A session chains one or more Situations blocks, always in the same order, with its duration: the routine to do before you play. You start it in one tap from My sessions on Learn Today, or from its shortcut at the top of the Strategy page (see My sessions). The page prepares one as an example, the Warm-up.

Each session has a name, a mode (Review: only the grids to review; Free: every grid) and 1 to 5 blocks; for each block:

  • the grids, with your program's tags (at least one tag in each chosen category; across categories, all must match), and the page shows how many grids match;
  • Vary the position and Vary the stack.

A block has no length of its own: the session's duration is split evenly across the blocks, in order (20 hands over 2 blocks: 10 + 10; 5 min: 3 + 2; Unlimited: each block until Next block). You create them with New session and edit them with Edit my sessions. A session always draws within your format and table size. Between two blocks, a screen gives your block score and announces the next one ("Block 2 of 3: 7 hands, 15–20bb, Push"); Next block ends an unlimited or timed block early. At the end, the end screen adds Per block, your accuracy block by block. A session counts as one run: for your streak, your free review and your key hands.

One hand, three beats

1. The situation. The hand is shown at a table: seats based on the table size, your seat, the button, the stacks, the blinds and the opponent's action ("CO raised to 2.2bb.", a 3-bet, an all-in…). Above it, a context line recalls the spot and the grid name, for example Open and Open HJ 50bb.

Your seat is the orange "you" pill with your position (BTN), and your two cards sit right below it. On phones, the table, your cards and the action buttons fit on one screen without scrolling, even with Safari's toolbars shown; on a short screen the table turns horizontal to stay readable. After the reveal, the next hand starts back at the top of the screen.

Everything comes from the grid's tags. When some are missing, the table adapts: no table size, 9 seats; no position, your seat is not highlighted; no stack, stacks are hidden. If no grid in the run has a position tag, the table is not shown and a hint suggests detecting tags.

With a stack range (25–40bb), each hand draws your stack inside the range (33bb, for example); <10bb gives 5 to 10bb and 100bb+ 100 to 150bb. A fixed stack (20bb) stays as it is.

2. Your answer. You answer with your grid's own actions: one button per range (its name and colour), plus Fold. On a keyboard, keys 1, 2, 3… match the buttons in order (Fold is last).

Outside an opening spot (or on a grid with no spot tag), a range name starting with Open and a separator is shortened: Open -> 4bet, Open -> Call and Fold become 4bet, Call, Fold in the buttons, the verdict, the end recap and the history, and in the caption of Review a grid. Only Open is dropped: 3bet -> Call stays as it is. In an Open spot, names stay as you wrote them. Your grids keep their full names. Recognised separators are ->, →, >, :, – and -.

When you already acted (facing a 3-bet, facing a 4-bet)

In a grid tagged Facing a 3-bet (Spot), or with a vs-4bet spot, you already opened (or 3-bet). A hand without a colour was never played, so it is never dealt. Only coloured hands are drawn, and the answers are only your grid's actions, with no extra Fold button. The key hands of these grids are the coloured hands next to another action (for example 4bet next to call).

3. The reveal. The verdict quotes your range: "Your range says: Raise". Then the whole grid shows with the hand you played outlined. On phones, a zoom on the cells around the hand shows above the grid.

At the top of the run, After each hand lets you choose (your choice is remembered on this device):

  • Show the grid (default): the verdict and the whole grid stay on screen until you click Next hand (or Space / Enter). Take the time to check.
  • Result only: the verdict alone, without the grid. The button counts down: Next hand in 3 s, 2 s… then the next hand comes. Click it (or Space / Enter) to skip the wait.

How an answer is judged

Each action counts for how often your grid plays it with this hand; Fold counts for what is left.

  • An action played at least 50 % of the time is correct.
  • An action played less than 50 % of the time (but not 0) is accepted and marked mixed.
  • A hand in no range is folded 100 % of the time: Fold is correct.

Example: a hand raised 40 % of the time in a grid with a single range. Raise is accepted and marked mixed, Fold (60 %) is correct.

The end screen

At the end of the run, Warm-up done shows:

  • your score (for example 8/10) and your percentage of correct answers
  • Your mistakes (N): a table of the hands you missed, all grids together, one row per hand, with the columns Hand, Grid, Your answer, Expected and Result (✓ / ✗). In Hand, each card shows its rank large with its suit under it, readable on a phone too. Tap a grid name to open its block. Nothing shows when you made no mistake.
  • one block per grid played: its name, your tally (for example 7 ✓ 2 ✗) and the grid with your hands outlined, green when your answer was right, red otherwise. Show the hands shows the hands played on that grid in the same table, without the Grid column. A grid where you made a mistake also has Review this grid to redraw it right away (in Review a grid mode, this time updating your schedule)
  • Redo to start another run, Back to reviews to return to the page
  • ✓ Your streak continues: this session counts for today (or "Under 5 hands: this session doesn't count toward today's streak")
  • for each grid played (five at most, the most advanced first), a short bar that fills up to the 80 % that validates the grid, with for example BB vs BTN 20bb: 62 % of key hands played (validated at 80 %), or, when it was just validated, BB vs BTN 20bb, validated: back in 6 days. Each grid is named by its tags (position, vs, spot, stack), then by its name in a lighter style: several grids of a pack can share a name, for example the tags Big blind, Open and 20bb, followed by the name No one has the initiative. A grid without tags keeps its name alone. The same goes for the errors recap and the history

You can leave a run at any time, with no confirmation.

Grids do not move during a run

A run works on a copy of your grids taken when it starts. If you edit a grid during a run, the current run does not change.

Your key hands validate your grids

Knowing your key hands means knowing your range. Every time you answer a key hand of a grid in Situations, it counts for that grid, run after run and day after day: no need to play them all at once. Only your latest answer on a hand counts.

Once you have played 80 % of a grid's key hands since its last review, the grid is validated: it gets a rating, as if you had rated it in Review a grid, from your answers on those key hands:

Correct answers on the key hands playedRatingNext review
95 % or moreSuccess (known)moves further away
80 % to 95 %Mediummoves a little further
under 80 %Failed (to review)back tomorrow

Then the count starts over for that grid. Below 80 %, your schedule does not change.

A grid reviewed in Review a grid starts over too: its review was just rated. If you edit a grid, only its current key hands count.

In a Facing a 3-bet (or vs-4bet) grid, the key hands are the coloured hands next to another coloured action: hands without a colour do not count.

From hand 6, the verdict, the outlined hand and your score stay visible: only the grid is blurred, with "See the other 168 hands of this range" to unlock the app.

Without a subscription, if you have not chosen yet, the tile opens on Situations.

With the Ranges Builder plan, Situations runs also have 10 hands and the reveal blurred from hand 6; each run of 5 hands or more counts toward your plan's daily reviews.
